Once Upon a Tryst . . .

It began with keepers of meaning, two vanguards who journeyed through symbols. Kirk and Lin sought on their own how sight must read what is in all, then love found them as they are to be twin halves for one cause. Both wardens embodied nomenclature, his masculine beside her feminine.

He hunted such concepts like doctrine, essence, language; she gathered archetype, illustration, performance. Either person explored artful design, bible study, classic mythos, detailed story, epic fable. Until finally nombism emerged, supporting Nomenume. Nombists are nobles who christen the cosmos.

our aiming

Our Aiming

Nomenume is the fruit of marriage partners, Kirk & Lindsey Diaz. Unbeknownst to them, their life’s work and contemplative practices would one day be united to a perfectly suited counterpart who had also endured decades of burning purification in the crucible of intense encounters with both light and dark.

The kindred nature of their shared experiences and philosophies not only yielded to a great romance, but also gave conception to a ministry that aimed to guide souls through the chaotic, dark void by teaching wanderers to use their privilege as an image-bearer of God to name creation properly—therefore aligning their life and soul to its divine meaning. Kirk and Lindsey both experienced the pain and wasted time that is brought about in life when something is misnamed. This looked like misdiagnosis, projective name calling, and mis-identification. It was when they heard their true names, that their souls experienced deeper union with God, themselves, and creation.

our bonding

Our Bonding

Before he met Lindsey, Kirk was a student of semantics, linguistics, and world-building. He focused on understanding the essences of things, and was heavily influenced by anime, trading card games, and his Polynesian/Native American ancestry. For over a decade, Kirk wrote an extensive collection of written works (education, games, and fiction) that will be released under Nomenume.

Before she met Kirk, Lindsey was a student of folktale, fairytale, jungian psychology, archetype, and the soul’s journey. She worked in theater, television, music, and theme parks as a performer, director, and producer, and was heavily influenced by Southern California culture, animated musicals, and folk traditions. She provides illustration, design, creative direction, and content development for Nomenume.

In early 2024, after being introduced by a mutual friend at a coffee shop, Kirk and Lindsey developed a deep friendship and discovered their shared love of Catholic mysticism, theology, biblical studies, symbolism, poetry, story structure, mythology, and animation. After two complicated years of discerning their vocations, Kirk and Lindsey were led to pursue marriage together. During many a coffee date, surf session, or long nature walk—Nomenume was lovingly developed.

our calling

Our Calling

Nomenume invites souls on their journey to sainthood to consider how they are naming their world. The ministry provides a variety of resources: books, content, art—and eventually courses and events, that instruct people on the proper names of misnamed things (to make what is crooked, straight) and to equip them to be able to name things well themselves (take on their Adamic role in creation).

Beyond the mastery of these skills, partakers of this ministry are invited to contribute their own words and art that further this movement beyond its founders. When symbol (letter, number, image) is married to its proper meaning, an Edenic world is restored.

Kirk Hirama Diaz

(Kiramaz the Kreatome)

K+K, a Roman Catholic communicant, is descended from ancestry of calumets and to‘eres. Three pillars he upholds are naming, nuance, and number, to be ordered in him along with grace. His prayer inspires art beyond himself.

This kayflake is kurious. An eclectic, eccentric, ecclesic one. Who aspires novelty, thrice (learning, litwrit, ludics). He graduates from experience, achieving three doctorates: innovation, insightfulness, intuition. When not at duel with thought, or out to court his muse, grace trains him for next quest.

Lindsey Elizabeth Diaz

(Lindeliaz the Luminstrel)

L+L, a Catholic convert, was raised on rigatoni, musicals, and Arwen Undomiel fan-sites. She devoted half a lifetime immersing herself in media/performing arts, while contemplating myth, symbol, archetype, mythopoetics, fairytale, and folklore.

A herald of the call-to-adventure, Lindsey is a proven witness of a daring life, lived by one imitation: “Do whatever He tells you”. Motivated in each scene by her desire for union with God, she hopes to guide heroes and heroines to their destiny by setting records straight.
